July 4th & Summer Safety Spotlight: Enjoy the Fun, Stay Secure!

With the July 4th holiday just around the corner and summer in full swing, many of us are traveling, celebrating, and sharing more online. It's the perfect time for family fun, but also a good moment for a quick digital safety check-up:

  • Sharing Pics? Think Privacy! Before you post those awesome fireworks photos or vacation snaps, quickly check your social media privacy settings. Who can see them? Make sure you're only sharing with your intended audience.
  • Public Wi-Fi Wisdom: If you're using Wi-Fi at a coffee shop, airport, or hotel, be cautious. Avoid doing online banking or shopping on public networks. Save sensitive tasks for your secure home Wi-Fi or mobile data.
  • Travel Tech Prep: Before you hit the road, ensure your phone and laptop have strong passcodes/passwords. And if you're using new devices for vacation photos, double-check those backup plans!

What's Coming Next at Family Home Tech...

While summer is just getting started, August will be fast approaching, and that means schools will be getting started (some even the first week of August!). It's a great time to start planning for ways to secure your children's devices, think about setting a screen time schedule, and safely introduce any new devices.

My full TECHSAFE Family Toolkit will help with all of these, but you can also find free resources for these topics available on the familyhometech.com/resources page.

I'm always working on new ways to help you master your digital world. Keep an eye out for upcoming articles on topics like navigating screen time battles and understanding online privacy settings. Plus, more valuable printables are always in the works!
